Gault&Millau's review 2026

It's a first for the Vosges mountains: perched at an altitude of 900 metres, the Domaine de Montagne has become the department's very first five-star hotel. Opened in January 2025 as a four-star hotel-spa, the establishment located in Ventron, between Lake Gérardmer and the Ballon d'Alsace, won its fifth star in less than six months. Behind this success lies the vision of co-founders Alexandre Keff and Pierre Singer, supported by a team of professionals, who have imagined refined hospitality with a mountain authenticity. Chalet Frère Joseph boasts 28 rooms and suites, including a spectacular 80 m² panoramic suite with marble and wood panelling, opening onto the forest. The highlight of your stay is the 900 m² Forêt spa, featuring a heated pool, hammam, saunas, treatment rooms, private balneotherapy, open-air Jacuzzis and a fireside relaxation area. Two dining experiences complement each other: Le M, a gourmet restaurant designed by Benoit Potdevin, and Le Comptoir de Montagne, a chic bistro with a local accent. This five-star hotel marks the Hautes Vosges' entry into the circle of great mountain destinations.
