Situated between the estuary and the Atlantic beaches, in the historic village of Bages in Pauillac, this 19th-century Carthusian monastery nestled in the heart of the vineyards was transformed into a hotel in 1989 by the Cazes family - owners of the prestigious Château Lynch-Bages, one of the Médoc's most emblematic crus classés, just a two-minute drive away. Since then, the address on the left bank of the Gironde has joined the COMO Hotels and Resorts group, which has infused it with contemporary design and made-to-measure service without betraying the soul of the place. The 28 rooms and suites open onto the park with its pine-shaded terraces and 25-metre heated swimming pool - antique furniture and designer lighting (Gae Aulenti, Andrée Putman) make up a warm, refined decor. The new restaurant, entrusted to chef-consultant Fabien Ferré, raises the bar even higher for an address that is already a member of the Relais & Châteaux collection.
