Located two streets above Place Saint-Marc, La Cave de Bacchus is Rouen's undisputed benchmark for natural and biodynamic wines. While the prices can sometimes be off-putting, the quality and quantity of the wines on offer, Benoît's advice and the independence of the winery justify going back and treating yourself. Among the eight hundred or so references on the shelves: Julien Pilon, vignoble du Rêveur, Étienne Sandrin, Fabien Jouves, Marthe Henry, Sybil Baldassare, astonishing wines from England and the unclassifiable Mine de Rien, as well as a good selection of foreign wines from Portugal, Georgia, Germany and elsewhere. The selections of whiskies, ciders and beers are also well worth a visit.
