Pastry In the mid-80s, Frédéric Vaucamps, a young pastry chef, developed a composition of meringue coated with whipped cream and chocolate shavings, which he named Merveilleux. The success was immediate, and has continued for almost 30 years. Since then, boutiques have opened in Belgium and Paris, and the Merveilleux has gradually evolved into a variety of recipes (the Magnifique, with almond and hazelnut praline, the Excentrique, with cherry and cherry...).
