It doesn't matter what your budget is, as long as you get drunk. That's the philosophy behind Alegria, Valence's new hot spot for cocktails and nibbles. Designed by Margaux and her husband Martin, who has worked in a number of prestigious establishments, the address, housed in a superb downtown market hall, combines French elegance with the sunny conviviality of a Spanish tapas bar. Here, there's something for everyone: student beer lovers, dandies in search of mixology or local wine enthusiasts. On the menu, original creations like the Palo Twist (Anejo tequila, lime juice, grapefruit, vanilla syrup, grapefruit tonic, chocolate bitter) or the Pear Fiction (Mezcal, amaretto, lime juice, pear juice, cinnamon syrup, old fashion bitter, egg white), as well as a house sangria inherited from Margaux's Spanish family, carefully crafted mocktails and some thirty gins. On the nibble side, you'll find sliced charcuterie, marinated octopus and more, all mingling with the sounds of DJ sets, live performances and collaborations with food trucks. In a cosy, designer decor - customized green corduroy chairs, terracotta banquettes - customers are won over. And on sunny days, the terrace extends the pleasure.
