Paul Godinat founded his company in 1919 as a wine merchant in Indre-et-Loire. His children joined him and expanded the business. In 1981, Jean-Paul Godinat, representing the 3rd generation, took over the management of the company and extended it to the Centre Loire region. Maison Godinat now owns two estates, including 30 hectares in Menetou-Salon. Chais du Val de Loire is the company's sales subsidiary.
