Gault&Millau's review
One of the appellation's benchmark estates, with over 10 hectares of vines in production, Ilarria only turned to wine in the late 80s. Today, the estate offers a white, a rosé and several red wines, including one vinified and bottled without sulfur. The Cuvée Bixintxo, a long-keeping wine, is only made in the best years and can wait decades before revealing its full complexity. The whole range is easy to find in the region, both in wine shops and in good restaurants. Enough to make you want to pay a visit. The estate welcomes you without appointment every afternoon of the week in season, and by appointment out of season. Before or after your tasting session, you can take a stroll through the vineyards.
