Gault&Millau's review

The château's history is closely linked to Montesquieu, who was the first to promote Bordeaux gravel wines. In 1703, the estate belonged to Jacques de Secondat, father of the philosopher. Under Baron Henri de Montesquieu, the vineyard expanded. In 2010, Dominique Coutière, founder of Biolandes, acquired Château des Fougères. He continues to work on improving the quality of red Graves. The estate covers 55 hectares, including 13 hectares of vines planted between 1986 and 2022, with Merlot (47%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (53%) grapes on gravelly soil with clay, sand and limestone subsoil.
