It’s definitely a change of scenery if you’re not familiar with the neighborhood—the cuisine is quite stunning, both visually and in terms of flavor, and it makes you want to finish every last bite from the stoneware plates and bowls, where the spoon makes a distinctly rough sound. The ingredients are seasonal, the seasoning impeccable—even if the culinary techniques are kept to the bare essentials—amid a flood of vegetarian dishes: the falafel, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, filled with an egg whose yolk is perfectly runny, and served on a “thigourt”—a house-made blend of yogurt, sesame paste, and dried mint, according to the ever-smiling Gaïa. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, and the dining room staff matches that vibe, with just a touch of energy that puts customers in a good mood.
