Ducasse at the Palace of Versailles—that says it all... It’s a bit like the Sun King returning to his rightful setting, here at the Pavillon Dufour, for a dinner befitting the nobility of the place. Commoners can come and feast on an à la carte menu with a wide selection, priced at €58 for the full course—starter, “röst” – “délice”: a cookpot of pot-au-feu vegetables, herring with potatoes, guinea fowl supreme with root vegetables and chestnuts in a dolce forte sauce... While the fare may be a bit less regal than expected, the execution is meticulous, and the smooth vanilla-coffee soufflé is well worth the €2 surcharge. A classic wine cellar featuring wines from independent merchants and major labels.
