What a great idea it was for Emmanuel Renaut to take over this institution at the foot of the church! The five-toque chef, who is so adept at doing everything from haute gastro to popular bistro, is perfectly at ease offering dishes of the moment in their mountain setting, a generous pâté en croûte, reblochon egg rolls or even an addictive tarama, before moving on to chuck steak, carrots and mondeuse or poultry with mushrooms, chocolate coulant with 'Italian' ice cream or baba. Generosity and good humor, a reason for many locals to cross the threshold with a smile on their face. Friendly service and a well-stocked wine cellar.
