Gault&Millau's review 2026

There are many reasons why this inn is known as “the oldest inn in France.” Its location on the Vieux Marché, the charm of this historic half-timbered building, the truly incredible and beautifully preserved setting of an old Norman house with its exposed beams and nooks and crannies, and finally the modern take on tradition by the talented chef Vincent Taillefer, who has been here for decades. This makes the classics the top choice here: oysters, foie gras, turbot with sorrel, veal sweetbreads and kidneys fricassee—not to mention, of course, the famous Rouen-style duck, which allows you to admire the beautiful silver serving platter.
