A few kilometers from the Château de Cheverny, in the village of Contres, La Botte d'Asperges is a regular fixture in the area. Maud Bureau welcomes you with a smile and efficiency in a pretty room with a modern, natural and uncluttered style. Stéphane, her husband, prepares local dishes with precision and generosity, spiced up with a dose of refinement. Starters include pink king pork belly, topped with butternut pickles, puffed rind and a delicious gherkin ice cream; mains include free-range poultry in a yellow wine and morel mushroom sauce, accompanied by a quenelle of hazelnut purée and an addictive crème brûlée polenta. No fixed dessert, but an assembly of various elements (ganache, mousse, crumble, candied citrus fruits, pea shoots...), laid out in front of the guests by the chef himself: the final result is a little less coherent, despite a nice effect. A varied, relevant and affordable selection of wines by the glass from the Loire Valley cellar.
