A pretty village bistro on the outskirts of Roanne, home to Pierre and Laurice. The couple have built a friendly bistronomy, with a good division of tasks between cooking and pastry-making. The tone is contemporary, both in decoration and menu, with a few innovative ideas: a black sesame financier, salmon gravelax and pickles, lacquered tuna steak au jus and sweet potato croquette, a more classic Charolais beef, Roannaise jus and potato millefeuille, and a range of burgers. On the sweet side, there's a revisited lemon tart, or moelleux choco and caramel coulis en cocotte. Lunch menu €19.50.
