Thomas LOMBARD

Thomas LOMBARD

This family business, whose birthplace is in Epernay, celebrates its centenary in 2025! Today, the fourth generation presides over its destiny, embodied by Thomas Lombard, General Manager since 2020.

Presentation

In 2003, Champagne Lombard acquired six hectares of vines on the western side of the Montagne de Reims, which were converted to organic cultivation in 2022. But the company's historical vocation has always been wine trading. Today, its grape purchase contracts cover 55 hectares throughout Champagne, with a good proportion in Premiers and Grands Crus.in charge of marketing strategy and sales, Thomas Lombard forms an efficient team with Laurent Vaillant, cellar master and therefore responsible for production: " Although most of our business is in trading, we have a very Burgundian vision, with a highly developed terroir and parcel-based approach, particularly for the crus, and a determination to vinify everything in brut nature ," explains Thomas. The idea is to do everything possible to enhance and reveal the terroir through organic farming, an ambition that's not all that common for a wine merchant. And guess what? One of three ranges of champagnes has been named "Terroir" - a real obsession! On the scale of a "cru" - Chouilly, Verzenay, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Cramant, etc. - or even more precisely of a "lieu-dit", the nine cuvées in this new range have been named "Terroir".each of the nine cuvées that make up this range highlight the mineral identity of a terroir in all its purity and precision. And they're a hit with Michelin-starred sommeliers, among others!
