mini-lexicon for a better understanding of champagne

- Champagne is, in essence, a region of blends: crus, years, wines and colors are assembled.

- Brut sans année (or BSA) is a champagne made from a blend of grape varieties of different origins and wines of different years that have spent a minimum of 15 months in the cellar.

- Grand cru. This designation is reserved for champagnes from one of the 17 communes classified as 100% Grand Cru, which determines the price to be paid for the grapes from these communes, i.e. 100% of their quotation.

- Monocru is a champagne made from grapes from a single plot.
