Elles and Beaujolais
In the Beaujolais region, optimism was not at its peak at the start of the harvest. In May and June, devastating storms battered the region, damaging entire appellations and destroying almost 100% of vines. In the face of this, farmers' solidarity is being organized.
Today, it's the winegrowers of the Beaujolais region, via their association Elles & Beaujolais, who are organizing a wonderful initiative. Too often confined to Beaujolais Nouveau, or to the grotesque image that clings to it, such as the inability of Beaujolais wines to age, the winegrowers have decided to organize an auction of "drinkable" vintages.cided to organize an auction of "drinkable" vintages, with all proceeds going to support the affected estates.
An auction, accessible via the Internet at www.interencheres-live.com, will take place on October 20, 2016 at 6 pm sharp. 200 lots of 1 magnum, 3 or 6 bottles will be on sale, directly from the personal cellars of participating estates. A great way for winegrowers to help each other, and an opportunity for wine lovers to acquire fine bottles while doing a good deed.
