Nestled in a 17th-century coaching inn, this charming place has been restored to its former glory, featuring stone walls, antique fireplaces and ornate balconies. Now called Epona and run by Émilie Gonin and David Thevenet, the refuge boasts 9 contemporary rooms, a large lounge with an adjoining terrace where you can enjoy an excellent breakfast, and a beautiful relaxation area with hammam and spa. This warm, affordable address is the ideal base for exploring the riches of the region - from the narrow streets of Digoin to the banks of the Loire and the hiking trails that wind through meadows and forests.
