Nestled in an 18th-century mansion, the former Hôtel de France played host to the likes of Jean Marais, Mireille Darc and Jacques Demy, before gradually sinking into oblivion. Bought by the Oceania group, it has been revived and now offers guests the charms of its historic salons, complete with waxed parquet flooring, piano and imposing chandelier. With the same elegant classicism, the 72 rooms and suites are warm and cosy refuges, with floral tapestries, top-of-the-range bedding and deep armchairs. Not forgetting a few nuggets, such as the room decorated by painter Justin Weiler, with its beautiful play of shadows, or the "Prestige" suites, extended by a terrace with a 180° view of the city. A perfect, affordable base for discovering Nantes, just a stone's throw from Place Graslin and the Château des Ducs de Bretagne.
