Gault&Millau's review2025
In the heart of Pigalle, this hotel was a house of pleasure during the Belle Époque, and Jacques Garcia has taken advantage of this underworld past to distill an elegance here that is as sensual as it is festive. Upon arrival, the tone is set with two red lanterns framing the entrance. On the first floor, the lobby and bar are voluptuously decorated with carmine velvet armchairs, a black marble fireplace and heavy drapes. Spread over the building's 4 floors, the 20 rooms and suites are named after courtesans ("La Païva" or "Liane de Pougy") and exude an exotic sensuality with inspirations from India, China and Japan, opulent fabrics and 19th-century nude paintings. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant, but offers a few dishes to be savored in the winter garden or at the bar, where you can also enjoy exclusive cocktails and forgotten aperitifs. A special mention must go to the basement spa, which also reflects the spirit of the place, nestled in a subdued alcove with a 10-metre swimming pool and a hammam available for private use.
