Gault&Millau's review 2025

Listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site, it's one of the most beautiful castles in the world. In 2018, Chambord was enriched by the addition of a boutique hotel (the only one on the estate), offering guests a unique tête-à-tête with this Renaissance nugget. Redesigned by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, who has embellished it with a contemporary façade, the Relais de Chambord brings together 55 rooms with generous volumes and a refined atmosphere, and a toue cabanée, a traditional flat-bottomed Loire boat, converted into a bedroom. The library and living room, warmed by large fireplaces, give the place the feel of an ideal country house, a welcome retreat after a long day's sightseeing or strolling in the surrounding forests. And let's not forget the Relais spa and the bistronomic Le Grand Saint-Michel restaurant run by Lyon chef Joseph Viola.
