Gault&Millau's review 2026

Overlooking the Cisse valley, the Prieuré d'Orchaise has just reopened after months of renovation. The focus is now on well-being and disconnection. But the main attraction is the botanical park created by Hubert Treuille: trees from Asia and South America, species that can't be found anywhere else in the region. Rooms overlook the canopy, where in the morning, mist rises from the river and clings to the branches. Yoga and meditation classes are offered by expert instructors. The former priory retains its monastic calm, but with linen sheets and refurbished bathrooms. No flashy spa, just the silence of the garden and paths winding between purple beeches and redwoods.
