Prestige Hotel
Built at the end of the 16th century as a Jesuit novitiate thanks to the generosity of Louise d’Ancézune, the Cloître Saint-Louis embodies more than four centuries of history. Behind its walls—designed by the architects Martelange, Péru, and de Royers de la Valfenière—monks, soldiers, and hospital workers have come and gone. Transformed in turn into a convent, a branch of the Hôtel des Invalides, and a civilian hospital, it has weathered the ages without losing its soul. Listed as a historic monument since 1950, this Avignon masterpiece now welcomes travelers as an exceptional destination. Completely renovated, the hotel blends history with contemporary comfort in its 80 spacious rooms, some accessible through a unique chapel, others overlooking the inner courtyard or the gardens shaded by 300-year-old plane trees. The rooftop pool, with views over the rooftops of Avignon, extends the summer getaway, while the secret garden and the Saint-Louis Chapel—a Baroque gem crowned by a dome and consecrated in 1611—create a destination so rare that one might want to keep it to oneself.
