Gault&Millau's review 2025

50 km from Lyon, in the center of the village and facing a sumptuous 11th-century abbey, this guesthouse is none other than Ambronay's former elementary school, whose classrooms have been transformed into 4 charming rooms. Generous volumes, contemporary decor and beautiful bathrooms, all have been reinvented but offer a few allusions to the area's past, such as the school desks, the pretty maps of the world... Not forgetting their names, in the form of a wink, "CE1", "CE2"... An establishment as atypical as it is welcoming, with, as a bonus, the sound advice of the hostess, Nathalie Schlienger, who reveals her good addresses: neighboring antique shops, Lyon's best restaurants, swimming in the Ain in summer and dream spots for snowshoeing in winter.
