Gault&Millau's review 2026

In the Cimiez district, where Matisse spent his last 37 years, the Ikonik Marengo has taken over a 1907 Belle Époque villa designed by Jean-Baptiste Pachiaudi. Its 81 luminous rooms are comfortable and practical, and some are interconnected for groups of travelers. Nine hundred meters from the Marc Chagall national museum and a ten-minute streetcar ride from the Promenade des Anglais, the hotel's uniqueness lies in its unexpected blend of Belle Époque heritage and resolutely contemporary energy.
