A shady, forgotten avenue a stone's throw from the bustling Place d'Italie, a hidden alley and, at the end, astonishment. In this house, which looks like a patrician villa set against an unassuming building, lies a hotel that is reinventing the urban, responsible and supportive lifestyle. Joris Bruneel, who co-founded the MyHotels group in 2013, has a clear vision: to constantly interact with all the energies of the neighborhood, first and foremost, and of Paris more broadly. Students from the nearby Estienne school have produced works of art that have taken their place in the 60 rooms; another neighbor, the Gobelins factory, has been featured in a photo series... The hotelier also wanted to bring nature back into this ultra-concrete environment: From the lobby, you can access an astonishing two-level garden, still a secret and destined to become a public garden; from a back door on the 3rd floor, you can discover the "Secret Garden", a terrace entirely planted with greenery (by the Merci Raymond collective); hops have been planted, no doubt to hide an unsightly wall, but also to imagine harvesting and brewing... Free and liberated, Marion Mailaender, architect and designer, chose to save certain existing elements - it was previously a so-called business hotel -, revamped them, combined them with furniture by the Bouroullec brothers or Gae Aulenti, with a print signed William Morris and Maison Thévenot fabrics, designed indoor/outdoor furniture in galvanized steel... The whole thing is clever, astute, conscious and conscientious, and allows you to discover the capital from a new point of view... from the air.
