Gault&Millau's review 2026
Exceptional Hotel
With its striking Art Deco façade, the Hôtel du Palais de la Méditerranée is a jewel on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. Located right on the waterfront, the hotel—built in 1929 with the ambition of becoming “the most beautiful casino in the world”—reopened in September 2026 after seven months of renovation work, under the auspices of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt.
This elegant, retro-style hotel in the south of France features 173 rooms and suites, most of which open onto the outdoors with a private balcony offering views of the mountains, the sea, or the city. This quiet and relaxing retreat invites travelers to unwind in the heated indoor/outdoor pool. A sauna and steam room are also available, as well as a fitness center. Behind the facade, which is listed as a historic monument, a panoramic terrace overlooks the Baie des Anges. The details and numerous works of art by local artists subtly immerse guests in the property’s heritage and the 1930s.
