In the heart of the upper Marais, this place is a piece of history, as it once housed the oldest bakery in Paris (dating back to the time of Henri IV), and legend has it that Victor Hugo came here to buy his bread when he lived on Place des Vosges. Restored in 1900 and listed as a historic monument, the façade now conceals one of the capital's most confidential hotels. Just 17 rooms and suites, all designed by couturier and decorator Christian Lacroix, who created a special refuge for each room - from a rustic Marais with toile de Jouy, to a baroque atmosphere with Venetian mirrors, to a more contemporary purity. The Honesty Bar, reserved for hotel guests, is also very popular, with its cosy, whimsical ambience, perfect for breakfast or a coffee or cocktail throughout the day.
