Gault&Millau's review 2026

Overlooking the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, this family-run establishment has been preserving the art of Basque hospitality for over a century. Its 29 rooms, decorated in shades of white and blue, blend retro 1950s furnishings with modern comforts—state-of-the-art bedding, air conditioning, and private balconies overlooking the ocean with the Basque mountains in the background. Just twenty meters from the beach and a five-minute walk from the old port, the hotel maintains its standing without ostentation: 24-hour reception, private garage, breakfast buffet, and that unique location on the Promenade Jacques Thibaud that makes all the difference. A gem of a place like they don’t make anymore.
