Gault&Millau's review 2025

Located on Place de la Pucelle, in the heart of Rouen, this magnificent 15th-century mansion has been transformed into a 5-star hotel by the Lille-based architectural firm Maes, which has pulled off a flawless renovation. The ornate façade, left intact, now houses 78 rooms and suites offering contemporary luxury, complete with sumptuous bedding and spacious bathrooms. On the ground floor, the restaurant L’Aumale attracts a loyal clientele, drawn to its “bistronomic” cuisine inspired by the great French culinary traditions. Finally, a special mention goes to the Spa du Drap d’Or, which spans some 700 m² and features a hammam, sauna, treatment rooms, and a large swimming pool, whose glass ceiling bathes the space in beautiful natural light.
