Not far from Alençon and its Musée des Beaux-Arts et de la Dentelle, this 15th-century château had long lain derelict before coming back to life 25 years ago, under the impetus of Charles-Henry and Ségolène de Valbray. Totally enchanted by the site, the couple decided to restore it and fit out 11 rooms and suites for visiting guests, all in a chic and cool atmosphere. It was an instant success, and each year more and more guests take up residence in the different retreats: Henri IV period, 19th century or contemporary. In the park, the "Datcha" suite is a wooden cabin with private sauna and Jacuzzi. After sharing a drink with guests, dinners are served in the sumptuous dining room by candlelight, while the children finish their meal together in an adjoining room. There's nothing like this for bonding before meeting the next day by the beautiful outdoor swimming pool, nestled in the heart of the estate's immense park.
