Gault&Millau's review 2025

While most of the Loire Valley's châteaux have retained their 18th-century spirit, the Belle Époque style of the Rochecotte estate lends it a singular charm. In 1828, the Duchesse de Dino (Talleyrand's niece) took over ownership of the estate and undertook a series of renovations, giving the gardens an Italian flair with a splendid pergola overgrown with wisteria. Transformed into a hotel in the 2000s, the site now invites guests to enjoy the luxury of its 37 rooms and suites decorated with 19th-century furniture, thick carpets and soft beds. A gourmet restaurant, French-style gardens and a spa with heated outdoor pool complete this high-flying hospitality, which you can savor before setting off to discover the region's main châteaux and the vineyards of Bourgueil or Chinon.
