Gault&Millau's review 2026

What we love about Château de Courcelles is the way it embodies French charm in all its splendor. A 17th-century residence set in 25 hectares of parkland, the address cultivates the art of unostentatious entertaining, with its antique woodwork, patterned tapestries and four-poster beds. Each of the 20 rooms is unique, designed as an aristocratic cocoon where you feel more like a guest than a client. The lounges, with their grisaille frescoes, feature original Versailles Grand Salon-style parquet flooring rescued from the war, while the cellar offers a selection of great Champagne wines, with a special focus on independent winemakers. The dining experience, resolutely local and refined, completes a stay where history - Voltaire, Rousseau and Cocteau have left their mark here - dialogues with sincere family hospitality, classified Relais & Châteaux since 1992.
