Gault&Millau's review 2025

You come to this address for the breathtaking view of the river and the sumptuous Château de Saumur... And you discover, on the spot, the charm of this 18th-century private mansion, a member of The Originals Collection, which has preserved its listed façade and staircase topped with a trompe-l'œil ceiling. There's nothing imposing about the imprint of the past here, and it in no way detracts from comfort and conviviality. The proof is in the 41 bright rooms, which combine antique furniture with the latest bedding. The hotel doesn't offer a restaurant, but the owners have entered into a partnership with L'Essentiel, a local restaurant that backs onto the manor house. As for the delicious breakfast, it will be served on the manor's patio, which extends into a heated swimming pool with the castle's high towers as a backdrop.
