Gault&Millau's review 2025

Castel Clara is first and foremost a view - arguably the most spectacular on Belle-Île-en-Mer - of the broom-covered coastal path, the emerald waters of Goulphar cove and the ever-changing skies. Built in 1973, this magical place attracts a faithful community who come here to put down their suitcases in one of the 66 rooms and suites, most of which have a balcony and are spread across the hotel's two buildings, with their turrets and immaculate facades. Light-colored woods, palettes of ocean blue... everything exudes the marine spirit: the spa with its outdoor and indoor pools, its hammam and its aquatic course, the treatments by the Breton brand Thalion, or the table of chef Franck Moisan, who concocts top-flight gourmet cuisine blending land and sea products. A member of Relais & Châteaux and part of the Centaurus group, this is a rare place to discover.
