Formerly an erotic theater closed down by Napoleon, then a convent for the Filles du Calvaire, this building in the Haut-Marais district has now been reborn under the banner of Boudoir des Muses, a new address by Elegancia. As soon as you step inside, snake carpeting, velvet curtains and subdued lighting set the scene: a hotel-theater of contrasting atmospheres. Under a spectacular Directoire glass roof, the central bar hosts cocktails and small plates in the evening, in a setting as theatrical as it is hushed. The 28 rooms are bright and soothing, in deliberate contrast to the exuberance of the first floor, with its beams, blond wood and refined furnishings. Special mention must be made of the private bathing rooms in the basement - Jacuzzi, hammam or sauna - for a wellness break. Cabarets, DJ-sets and esoteric workshops complete this audacious setting, designed as a showcase for artistic freedom.
