In stark contrast to the Russian palaces and traditional Savoyard-style chalets that line the Bellecôte slope, Atmosphère 1850 - inaugurated in December 2025 - marks the arrival of a radical aesthetic in Courchevel. This small-capacity 5-star (less than 20 keys) has been designed as a hybrid structure, somewhere between luxury hotel and ultra-technological private residence. The architecture favors concrete and burnt larch, a Japanese technique (shou sugi ban) imported here for its strength and matte anthracite finish, offering an almost stealthy silhouette in the fir forest. Inside, minimalism is not just aesthetic, it's functional. Each suite incorporates an invisible home automation system controlling air quality and acoustics, totally isolating guests from the hustle and bustle of the resort. Custom-designed furniture eliminates the superfluous: here, no velvet curtains, but motorized linen panels and Vals stone floors. The positioning is clear: to appeal to an international clientele that has deserted the "showcase" establishments of the resort to seek anonymity in the heights of the Altiport. While the 680 m² spa, designed by Atelier Giffon, offers the classic sauna, hammam and sensory shower, it stands out for its intuitive massages designed for demanding skiers. Catering is deliberately confidential, focusing on "haute couture" room service or a unique table d'hôtes, thus avoiding the flow of outside guests.
