Prestige Hotel Surrounded by 7 hectares of verdant parkland and bordered by the waters of the River Oise, this 13th-century Cistercian abbey is famous for its remarkable classical music festival. Less well known is the rare privilege of spending an entire weekend here, in one of the 53 bright, serene rooms overlooking the medieval garden or cloister. The experience continues with breakfast, served in a room decorated with ancient stained glass windows, and the best is yet to come with the discovery of the Table de Royaumont, a delicious restaurant housed in one of the abbey's most beautiful vaulted rooms. Also not to be missed is the monks' building, where you can watch one of the many films shot in or around the abbey in a hushed setting.
