These parcels surround Château Bonalgue, a 9.5-hectare family estate whose history dates back to Napoleonic times. Merlot accounts for 90% of the surface area. Jean-Baptiste Bourotte, who is at the helm of this estate, produces straightforward wines that are easy to drink, yet full-bodied. Neither opulent oak nor overripe fruit are to be found in this Pomerol, which has a very classic, digestible structure. It proves delicious after a decade or so in the cellar, when it develops beautiful truffle aromas.
