For 60 years, Boucherie Bernat has been the benchmark for quality meats in Auterive. The establishment also offers homemade products from local producers, such as dishes cooked the old-fashioned way, in jars with no additives, as grandparents used to do. For two generations, Boucherie Bernat has specialized in pork and duck pâtés, duck confits, foie gras, cassoulets and other traditional home-cooked dishes. In June 2014, Benoît Saleil set up an artisanal cannery in Aureville. He called it "L'Ovalie" because he plays rugby, like his cousin Daniel Canavy with whom he partnered for Boucherie Bernat, renamed Boucherie 9 et 10. The animals, which often win prizes in competitions, come from local farms, with ducks from the Gers and pigs from the Tarn and Ariège. Customers come from far and wide to stock up on sausages, hams and chickens (from 2.5 to 3 kg). The Bernat family's conviviality and the quality of their products at affordable prices are well known.
